Mountain's Edge community is located in southwest part of the Las Vegas valley near Blue Diamond road and Rainbow Blvd. Construction started in February of 2004 on this contemporary master planned project. With the slogan "The New Southwest" it is set to change the standards for functional residential development estblished in Nevada desert environment. It is a collaboration of several big name builders such as Beazer,  KB Home, Kimball Hill, D.R. Horton, Lennar, Pardee and Toll Brothers on about 3000 acres of land to build over 12000 homes in a dozen different neighborhoods. Each community will have its' own ammenities consisting of public parks, elementary and high schools, swimming pool with club house, shopping and restaurants, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas. Various construction styles will be used to create detached single family homes, custom estates, condominiums and townhomes.

Over 500 acres of land has been set aside for parks and open spaces. One of the main attractions located at the main entrance to the complex is the Exploration Park. A public park with early settler and native american replica artifacts. The land's desert settings have been preserved to spark the curiosity of the average person in historic culture. In early 1800's the Spanish trail was the main trade highway for American and Mexican traders between Los Angeles and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Sections of the actual old Spanish Trail passed through this area.
