Close to 2000 acres of land in the southern foothills of Las Vegas Valley, south of the Henderson executive airport, is being developed as the Inspirada community. It is being billed as "New Urbanism" with projections for 11,500 new homes. It is a residential project where the buildings featuring choices from standard single family homes to condominiums, apartments, townhomes and estate homes surround a 300 acres city town center filled with restaurants, shops and other commercial amenities. Comprised of seven residential villages, ranging from 200 to 250 acres, the community also will incorporate the land's natural features in the planning of parks, residential and commercial space. One of the signature aspects of the structural design in Inspirada is that the community is not divided by walls. The homes are built in villages around public parks that include community recreation centers.
There would be several types of homes available:
* The city homes are attached buildings with garages located in the back of the structure to combine convenience and style.
* The live / work homes that are designed around live and work at home lifestyle. The first floor of the homes will have easy access from outside to create opportunities for an office space in the home.
* The village homes are designed to combine form and function. The home styles are similar to those of European and East Coast American structures.
* The garden homes share a touch of nature with landscaped courtyards that provide a natural setting with the benefit of being in walking distance to a larger village and all it's amenities.
* The estate homes are magnificent single family homes with a wide selection of exterior design and floor plans. These residences are created to provide the owners with convenience of large interior spaces, finishing touches and the status symbols like no other.
* The mansion homes are grouped together with up to six homes to provide the appearance of one massive structure. The architecture style is that of similar size buildings in San Francisco and new York.
Several major home builders have participated in construction of this community. The list include names such as KB Homes (which owns over 48 percent of the project), Beazer Homes, Focus Property Group, Kimball Hill Homes, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Toll Brothers and Woodside Homes. Work has begun on the project's first residential village. The residential portion of the project is expected to be completed in six years, with commercial aspects set for completion in about twelve years.
